About iPagan
In 2005 the site owners Kath and Martin Hazel set up the now defunct site http://www.burnleyareapagans.co.uk which
basically gave info on camps, events, moots and finally had a Yahoo group. In October that Year we became the Pagan Federation
regional Co-ordinators for the "Rural Lancashire Area" (BB, FY, PR postcodes) and felt that it was better spending time developing a
regional site, with this knowledge we decided that a National "open" site would be a better idea open to Heathens, Pagans, Neo-pagans, Druids
and anyone else with an interest. The Idea was to have regular articles and updates, plus a decent set of forums.
This site will remain active and a focus of our attention in the long run, no matter what our affiliations with either the Pagan Federation or any other
organisation.
The Problem with the Format of the iPagan.co.uk website (V.1) was that the Servers we where hosting on charged masses for Microsoft's SQL Server
so we had to regress to using MySQL, which many of the features I (Martin) am used to programming with are completely different. So after over a Year with our
previous Hosts, we've moved once again to a New Hosts. Who charge more but offer MSSQL and a lot more bandwidth, suprisingly for the ammount of users we have we
use a heck of a lot of bandwidth.
Now moving ahead to V2.0.1 we've again jumped technology to asp.net version 2, allowing us many more features, and myself many more sleepless nights... Now users can apply to become
editors or content writers and forum moderators, all the content of the site can be piped direct to Blogs or Livejournals, and we have a full set of calendars for events broken down into
Festival Calendars, Moot Calendars, Camp Calendars, Gig Calendars and any other calendars users would like to see.
So how come this site exists and doesn't charge?
Simply put we hope that people will visit some of the book stores or donate to the running costs of the site
through the links below, or use our great friends Abebooks, to do this simply type the name of a book into the Abebooks form, and click search, if you find the book and buy the book we
get given a tiny percentage of the value for advertising their site.
What happens to monies made by this site? Currently we are running at a LOSS we have servers to pay for each and every month, no members of staff recieve a payment for their work and there
certainly is no shareholders! If you want the site to continue then please consider supporting us.
If you want to support us via paypal click "Make a Donation"
.
If thats not your idea of supporting us then why not Join Skype, a free PC to PC, PC to Landline or mobile* VoIP technology, whilst it costs
nothing to join it also gives a small donation to this site, and is used by the Site Developers *Landline and Mobile cost, and there is also an option
to get a number that can be phoned by landline users.
Or if your a webmaster why not get paid for advertising the current rate is £10 in amazon vouchers per month. Earn Credit for your Website!
